Job Description:

A welder is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in joining metal parts together using various welding techniques. Welders work in a range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace. They use heat, gas, or electricity to melt and fuse metal pieces, ensuring strong and durable connections. Welders must possess technical skills, precision, and a strong understanding of different welding methods and safety procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Welding Operations: Perform welding operations based on project requirements and specifications. Select appropriate welding techniques, such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), or Arc welding, to achieve desired results. Set up and adjust welding equipment, including welding machines, gas cylinders, and electrodes.
  2. Metal Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and removing rust, debris, or coatings. Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of metal parts to be joined.
  3. Weld Quality and Inspection: Monitor and ensure the quality of welds by visually inspecting finished welds for defects, such as cracks, porosity, or incomplete fusion. Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT), such as X-ray or ultrasonic testing, if required. Make necessary adjustments to maintain high-quality welds.
  4. Welding Techniques: Apply welding techniques to join different types of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Adjust welding parameters, such as voltage, current, and travel speed, to achieve desired penetration, bead appearance, and weld strength.
  5. Reading Blueprints and Specifications: Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Understand welding procedures and specifications provided in work orders or project documents.
  6. Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to proper handling, storage, and disposal of welding gases and materials. Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness to prevent accidents.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
  • Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Others or similar fields.
  • Fluent in English language and must be proactive, organize and responsible
