Job Description:

A data entry clerk is a person who enters, updates, and maintains data in computer systems or databases. They are critical in providing accurate and well-organized data records for effective data management inside organisations. A data entry clerk’s job description often includes the following responsibilities:

Data Entry Clerks enter data into computer systems or databases from a variety of sources, such as paper documents, spreadsheets, or online forms. They assure accuracy by thoroughly examining and confirming the entered data for completeness and accuracy.

Data Validation and Verification: Data entry clerks check submitted data for accuracy and integrity by comparing it to source documents or cross-referencing it with other information. They detect and rectify any flaws or inconsistencies in the data.

Database Maintenance: Data entry clerks help to update and maintain databases by adding, changing, or removing information as needed. They may carry out data cleansing efforts to eliminate duplicate or out-of-date records, ensuring that the database is kept up to date and organised.

Data Retrieval and Reporting: As needed, data entry clerks retrieve information from databases or systems. Based on specified formats or particular criteria, they develop reports, summaries, or data exports that provide accurate and timely information to assist decision-making processes.

Data entry clerks deal with sensitive and secret information, such as personal or financial information. To secure the privacy and integrity of the data they handle, they employ strong confidentiality rules and data security practises.


  • A minimum of 1 year(s) of working experience is required.
  • Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Computer Science/Information technology or similar fields.
